Serving Others Worldwide Pakistan Ministry Update February 12, 2010

Winter Clothing for Kids

We were able help Saul with some clothing for the children in his school. For only $5.00, he was able to purchase hats, gloves, jackets, and socks for the children in these pictures.

Although the temperatures in Pakistan where Saul is located are mild compared to most of the US, when the temperatures dip into the 40s overnight and days are only in the 50s, it is easy for a child to lose whatever resistance he or she has to disease.

A very grateful “thank you” for helping these children survive the winter.

We are fortunate that there are others who are also helping Saul. Below is a letter from Saul after distributing clothes funded by Vertical World Solutions. These clothes were distributed in the homeless camp.

I am glad to tell you about feelings of my people after getting warm clothes.

We all are thankful to all of your people for your love and kindness. I believe now those who got warm clothes will not get sick due to killing winter in our area. People are so excited and their faith in God is getting stronger day by day. People have started to think about bright future of their children. In past no one had given any attention to them but with your love and compassion these people and their children are being blessed. Children felt the warmth of your love when they wore warm clothes. Their faces were glowing with happiness and smiles on faces. This is first time they have had new warm clothes. We all believe these are not warm clothes these are warm hugs from all of you for our poor children.

I don’t have words to explain feelings of children after getting clothes and I know our words will not tell you what we feel now but I am going to say you thanks from all my people in Arifwala.

Thank God and thank you also. We believe you will get your reward from God for this all what you have done for us.

God bless you and your families. We love you.

Once again thank you very much for your love and kindness.

Outreach

As a result of this outpouring of love, doors have opened to pray for and talk with a Hindu family with a sick child. This has led to more opportunities to share with other Hindu families as well.

Deaths in Saul’s Family

January has been a trying time for Saul’s family. We learned on the 12th that Saul’s cousin had died. On the heels of joy, after receiving the money to buy the children’s winter clothes, Saul received the crushing news that his cousin’s seven year old son Phool had died. Phool had complications since birth and suffered through many hardships. He was never able to speak a word during his seven years on earth but as Saul said to Steve Vine earlier, “Phool is singing praises in heaven.”

On January 27th we also received word that Saul’s grandmother, Mukhteran, had passed away. She was “more than” 90, and lived a good Christian life. Saul’s family is happy that God has called her home because she fell very ill. Let us join them in mourning her death and celebrating her everlasting life!

Other Needs

IIf you have donated specifically for warm clothes, know that when the needs have been met, there are still other needs such as providing medicine and doctors’ visits and escape from slavery.  See http://pakistan.rayruppert.com/html/continuing_needs.html.
