Urgent Need
Clothing for the Winter
|
|
It is now winter in Pakistan. The temperatures are already low and many children do not have warm clothes. Many are going barefoot. When I last talked to Saul, he told me of a family that lost two children last year because of the cold.
|
Please help make sure that this doesn’t happen again.

Here, you can see Saul with his warm fleece coat. This picture was taken while he was distributing food at the homeless village. He reported that he felt guilty being dressed warmly while little children were actually naked or barely clothed.

Saul’s report from Pakistan
December 1st Christmas walk. It went very well. All the people enjoyed this walk especially as it was a testimony to Muslims of our area. God used us on this day to tell other nations about His Son Jesus Christ. Many Muslims heard the word of God when I spoke in main market.
December 6th Speech Competition. Children were very excited because this was a chance for them to speak before people. Parents came in prayer meeting with more passion because their children were taking part. They wanted to see their children speaking boldly before people. The subject for this competition was simple, “Jesus My Savior.” This subject is simple to hear but difficult to describe in words. The children did a very good job and made it difficult for our people to select the winners.
In Christian colony after our prayer meeting 8 Boys and girls took part in this. 2 girls came in the top two positions and a boy came in third.
December 13th Praise Songs Singing Competition. In this Competition God use little children’s small tongues for praise songs. People enjoyed it and the children learned how to praise God through singing.
December 20 Bible Quiz. This day was very exciting for the children and parents. They had to prove their Bible knowledge. I asked questions from the stories I had taught them. Many people won small prizes. Each question had a prize. Praise God it went well.
December 21 Sport day. This day was cancel due to weather condition. We had fog and it was not good to take children out for games. We canceled it to save children from winter.
December 23 Stage Drama in Village of Slaves. The slave owner did not allow us to do the stage drama there. I had to leave but God used us in fields where I taught the slave people. The children acted out this drama without loud speakers and tents. They performed in fields where their parents work for the slave owner. Many Muslims watched them acting. Praise The Lord He used His children in the fields.

December 24. This was very busy for us. In the afternoon I went door to door for visits. We had a Christmas stage Drama in our colony. The “Name of My Savior” stage drama was done to teach people how and why Jesus was born in this world for people. Children did a very good job. People liked this stage drama very much and God blessed many people through it. It was also source of entertainment for our people.
Midnight Prayer Meeting. After the stage drama at 12AM we had a midnight prayer meeting to say thanks to God for His beloved Son Jesus Christ. After this prayer meeting people greeted and hugged each other.
December 25. We had a sunny day and it was good. We started our prayer meetings at 9AM. We did our prayer meeting in sessions because the police told us not to gather more than 200 people in one session. We obey their order and we had 3 sessions. After the prayer meeting, people met with each other and they greeted each other.
People came around me and greeted me also.
We are thankful to god for all what He has done in Arifwala in 2009.

Christmas Food Distribution
Saul reports that they decided to provide food for each family that would last 10-15 days instead of the original 15-20 days so that they could help more families. Because of your generous giving through Serving Others Worldwide, they were able to provide for 30 families in addition to covering all the cost of the Christmas program.

Work in the Homeless Camp
During Christmas this year, Saul visited this homeless camp to distribute food. Saul is the in warm orange fleece jacket. You can see that several of the children in front are bare foot.

Vertical World Solutions
|
|
Vertical World Solutions is a licensed Non-Profit Corporation in the state of Arizona that has also come alongside Saul in Pakistan. The organization is led by Steve Vines.
It is with great joy that I can include their report in this newsletter. They were also raising support for the Christmas food distribution. We can praise God, that they were able to double the amount that we gave this year. Because of the combined giving, the daily needs of 130 familes have been met for 15 day. This was a huge blessing for these people at Christmas.

Ressurection Hope Sewing School
Vertical World Solutions has enabled Saul to start a sewing school last November. When I learned of this I was overjoyed as I had been praying for some way to help break the bondage of poverty for Saul’s people. Unbeknown to me, God was already working through Vertical World Solutions to start this ministry.
http://verticalworldsolutions.wordpress.com/ has more information about their role in Pakistan.

Regular Support
One of our goals is to raise ongoing support for Saul’s ministry so that we do not have to put out appeals for urgent needs. If you are able, please consider giving monthly. A few dollars a month from several people will go a long way in meeting the ongoing needs for food, clothing, and education. Think big, think about starting business loans so that those that are locked in poverty can start their own business and break free from the never-ending economic slavery.
